Oops!

Oh my goodness its been MONTHS! I've been meaning to do this but I always forget! I was browsing the internet and came across this and realized I need to update it!

JR officially joined the military in April, he joined the National Guard. I'm so proud of him! He is actually at drill right now! He's been doing that once a month since he joined and in a few short weeks (Aug 16) he'll be leaving for basic training and AIT school. He will be gone for 6-8 months and will be greatly missed!

Even though JR will be gone I won't be alone! A very good friend of mine Breawna is going to move in! She's so sweet and I can't wait to have a friend around ALL the time! :o) I posted a picture of us in this blog, we had a little slumber party last night! haha

The dogs are great! Lucy wishes she could just lay outside in the sun all day and lounge around. Wendy just wants to chase all the birds and doesn't understand why the black kitty in our apartment complex won't play with her. I love them so much, they definitely keep me entertained!

I've come to the realization that I'm obsessed with reality TV. I know half the time it's really bad but I just can't help it! I love most of the shows; Big Brother, Real Housewives, America's Next Top Model, The Real World, Survivor, Biggest Loser, 19 Kids and Counting, Little People Big World, Amazing Race, Bachelor & Bachelorette, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Hell's Kitchen, Kendra, Project Runway, Say Yes to the Dress.... okay well I'm sure you get the picture! haha JR just shakes his head at me and tells me he doesnt understand how I can keep up with so many TV shows. Honestly, I don't either!

Jill if you are reading this you need to make a post! :o)

Wendy and Lucy

JR and I were going through some pictures and we just loved all the ones of our adorable doggies! I'm so happy to have them around, I don't know what I would do some days without them. They give us unconditional love and lots of laughs! It's amazing how their personalities are so different but somewhat match us too. We joke that Lucy is JR's dog and Wendy is my dog. Lucy is a little daddys girl for sure and goes everywhere JR does. Miss Wendy definitely knows who her momma is and loves to cuddle up with me.

Wendy is the white schnauzer and Lucy is mix.

P.S.
Adopt a shelter dog! More often than not you can find a full bred dog of your choosing. I got Miss Wendy for $65 at a shelter while others are paying $400 for their schnauzers.

7 more work days

Well I have 7 more days of work, not including today. Tomorrow Jean (the woman responsible for outsourcing our department) is taking us to lunch to thank us for all the hard work we’ve done… I wanted to punch her in the face when she said that. Really? SHE is the reason we are losing our jobs! Good thing there will be about 8 of us total so hopefully it won’t be too awkward of a lunch. We’ll see. I started going through some of my things at my desk and I felt like I was back in elementary school cleaning out my desk for the end of the year. Haha It will be bitter sweet to leave. I’m incredibly thankful for the job that I had here in the company for three years and the wonderful people that I’m going to dearly miss… but it will be nice to not have to hear so many angry people everyday upset over their potato skins not having enough cheese on them. Seriously people, just talk to the manager in the restaurant so they can fix it for you.

JR is officially in the military! Last Monday the 12th he went and swore in and got his uniform and paperwork. He leaves August 16th for 8 months to go to boot camp and AIT school. It will be really hard not to have him around. I know Wendy and Lucy will miss him a ton. Luckily I found a very sweet friend, Bre to move in with me! We have a second bedroom that wasn’t being used and she was looking to move out of her house so it worked out perfectly! I’m looking forward to having someone around; I really can’t stand the thought of living alone!

Oh and I included a picture of Lucy at the top of the page. Wendy is in the picture on my previous blog.

Madness of March!

Work… It pays the bills. It also stresses me out more than anything I have ever experienced in my life. When I first got hired at this job I was told that I probably wouldn’t last more than a few years because this type of job really wares people down fast. They were right. Even though I’m not leaving by choice I’d be seriously looking for something else to do. Speaking of not leaving by choice I found out my last day is going to be April 30th. There are five permanent people in my department (the other four are temps) and of the five of us three leave on the 30th and the other two on the 14th of May. Why the other two get to stay an extra two weeks you may be thinking? They are the two people who have done the most in the transition to the new company. I offered my services and stated that while it’s not a nice position to be in (training the people taking my job) I’d still be happy to make sure they get the correct training. My offer was well received by the supervisor. Only problem? Another lady in my department who is trying so hard to make herself look good she’s shoving her fellow coworkers (and former friends) out of the way to make sure she is in the front. The sad part is that it has worked. Our supervisor doesn’t pay enough attention to see what is going on so she thinks this lady is someone sent from above. You know how she’s getting so much done for this other company? SHE DOESN’T DO HER REGULAR JOB FOR THIS COMPANY. Of course I can’t say any of this because then I just look like the disgruntled employee who is just upset because that lady gets to stay for an extra two weeks and not me. It’s crappy the way things work sometimes. I believe in karma though and feel that it will come back around for her at some point whether it be in her work life or personal life. I think I’m also hurt because we were friends, I really thought she cared. Now I see that she was just keeping her “enemies” closer, for information and other knowledge she would have never found out had I not told her. Now I’m kicking myself too. You live and learn though right? Everyone keeps asking me what I plan to do now. You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to file for unemployment and go back to school full time. Mr. Obama, thank you for extending unemployment benefits. I have about 12 classes left and if I work this right I can graduate in May 2011. Then on all those applications I check YES I have a degree! God willing all will work out that way.

JR is going to join the National Guard, he’ll do that until he finishes school and then I think he’d technically be under the army. He hasn’t signed the papers or anything yet but he’s taken the ASVAB which he did really well on and talked to a recruiter. Right now they are just waiting on his paperwork in regards to him going to school. I don’t know how long we’ll have to wait on that. I think boot camp is around 6 weeks and then if he gets the job he wants (UAV Pilot) than that school is 18 months! I don’t know what I’ll do alone for a year and a half. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there though!

Wendy and Lucy are doing well. We got a special training leash for Wendy she’s the one who pulls harder and acts crazy when we’re out in public. Hopefully that will work some and then I think we’re going to take her to training. She seriously goes nuts if she sees another person or dog! I have to tell people, “She’s not aggressive, she’s just really excited and wants to play with your dog!” JR is in denial and thinks Lucy is the most perfect dog. I think Lucy knows that too, she’s so rotten sometimes. Haha I love ‘em both though, they’re wonderful company when JR is gone and it’s just us girls in the apartment!

apartment in need of TLC

Our apartment is a hot mess right now. Our roommate moved out a couple months back so that was nice to get that space back. The only problem? No time to actually make good use of it. We still have things stuffed in corners. I feel like its about to explode. I wish I could just take 5 whole days with no work or other agenta to go through everything to sort, throw away or give away. I don't think I'll get that pleasure until May when I lose my job. I'm starting to think that losing my job in the upcoming months is a blessing in disguise. I'll jump on the unemployment bandwagon for a bit to go back to school full time and finish up hopefully very quickly. Since I won't be working I'll have time to take care of the apartment. It really needs that. I feel a little bad for it. haha

JR is most likely going to join the Navy, he wants to become a Seal. I have thought about joining with him but I just have mixed feelings. We'd be married so we'd stay together but then what happens if we don't stay together? If I was enlisted I couldn't follow him, but if I was not I could. Just lots to think about!

update!

I originally started this blog to keep up with what’s going on with JR and I. Now I’m just going to use it as an outlet and post whatever is going on in life! And right now, there’s a lot going on!

JR and I are living together in an apartment in Fort Worth near TCU. We have two dogs, Wendy the Schnauzer and Lucy our adorable mutt. They’re crazy but so much fun. We are really enjoying our little family. Having two dogs is making us think we don’t want kids for another 10 years or something! haha Hopefully when I figure this out I’ll get pictures of them posted.

Work is incredibly ridiculous… seriously, no lie. Our department is getting outsourced in May so until then we get to help transition our job to the new company taking over. We go to write the manuals on the how-to’s of our job and train them. Exciting huh? Training the person taking my job, wonderful. At work I try to stay positive and upbeat, can’t burn any bridges because you never know when you’ll need to cross again! I guess my biggest issue is the person they are relying on to do most of this work is the girl that has been here the shortest amount of time. She’s a very nice person and I’m starting to quickly realize she’s a nice friend but not a nice co-worker. I hate that. She’s one of those people who wants to do all the work herself and not ask for help or pass some of the duties on because she wants all of the recognition and praise for it. It’s annoying because she barley hit her 1 year mark and she JUST got trained on all of our duties but she’s the one training everyone else? How does that work?

I’m taking two classes this semester, one online and one on Monday nights at UNT. So far I think its going well… I have about 8 classes left total so I’m hoping to get 2 or 3 knocked out over the summer so I can graduate in 2011. I can’t wait to have a diploma!
